These are very important dates and information that ALL students and families should know. 

Please read the following information carefully:



May 6th :  Ticket Promo Code Distribution begins, upon payment of May Tuition

            May 22nd :  Recital tickets go on sale, online only! (For exact times see below)

            May 23rd :  Additional Tickets Go on Sale at 4pm

            May 30th  - 31st : Studio CLOSED for Memorial Day Break

            June 5th: Picture Day #2 @ SDSD (Individual shots only)

            June 8th, 13th & 14th: Dress Rehearsal at Bellport Middle School (see the recital wall for                     your dancer’s specific day and time)

June 17th & 18th: SDSD Recital at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center



Students are eligible to receive a complimentary celebratory trophy if this is their 4th, 8th or 12th Recital at Stage Door.  The trophy clipboard has been located at the front desk for the past 2 months. Please write your child’s name, which trophy year that they are eligible for, the trophy style your student would love to receive and during which recital they would like to be presented with their trophy.  It is YOUR responsibility to list your student’s name on the trophy list at the front desk.  If you do not sign them up then they WILL NOT receive a trophy.  Deadline is Wednesday, May 4th (no exceptions). This is NOT done automatically through our office… YOU must sign them up).


Picture Day

If you are interested in having your dancer’s individual photo taken in their dance costume, please stop by the front desk to sign up for a one hour time for our June 5th picture day.  When you sign up for a time slot you must pay a $10 CASH deposit to hold your spot.  This amount will be deducted from the total price of any photo package that you purchase.  If you are planning to take more than one individual photo (different costumes/different poses) be prepared to sign up for multiple time slots at $10 each.  If you have any questions ask the front desk upon sign up.



Recital Tickets will be sold online again this year using a great company called  If you ever have a question about the purchase process you can email them directly for a quick response including during the first hours of the sale!  Every Stage Door Account is able to purchase up to 9 tickets per show if you so desire. You will be able to purchase additional tickets beginning May 23rd  by visiting our front desk and receiving a NEW code.

Step 1) Pay your May tuition(cash or credit ONLY)

Step 2) Get your Promo Code: Beginning May 6th we will begin distributing the Ticket Promo Codes.  This code is for one time use only and a different code will be required for each show. If you need tickets for another show to see a cousin or family friend you will need to purchase those tickets with a separate Promo code from the front desk after the 23rd.

Step 3) Tickets go on Sale on Sunday, May 22nd for the 2016 Stage Door Recital, “Flash Back 40”.

Sale Start times will be as follows for each show:

·      2:00 for the Friday June 17, 2016 7:00 pm Show

·      2:30 for the Saturday June 18, 2016 11:00 am Show

·      3:00 for the Saturday June 18, 2016 3:00 pm Show

·      3:30 for the Saturday June 18, 2016 7:00 pm Show




A clipboard for backstage parent crew is available at the front desk. If you did not sign up during parent observation, there is still time to do so!

1)   We need a crew to be with the children in the dressing rooms.

2)   As a part of the backstage parent crew, you will be required to arrive 1 hour prior to the start time of the recital,  stay for the duration of the show, and help in the 10 minute Sign Out Process of the students. It goes very quickly!

3)   If your child is performing in the recital that you work you will be permitted to watch their dance from backstage.  It’s the best seat in the house!

4)   If you work for one show you will receive a $20 credit to your Stage Door Account.  If you work for two shows you will receive a complimentary Recital T-Shirt in addition to the $20 SDSD credit.

5)   A Mandatory Parent Crew meeting will be held Friday, June 3rd from 7:45-8:45pm.



Specific Dress Rehearsal Dates and Times can be found on the website,, and posted in the studio on the Recital Information Wall

1)   Bellport Middle School Auditorium is located at the corner of Station Road and Kreamer Street

a.          FROM SUNRISE HWY: Take Exit 56: Station Road and head South.  Cross Montauk Highway and the Railroad tracks.  Make a Right onto Kreamer Street.  Continue to the parking lot in the middle of the block. The auditorium is on the Right hand side at the end of the parking lot.


a.          This is NOT an open rehearsal.  This is a working rehearsal, so please limit one person per student.  Guests are NOT welcomed during dress rehearsals.

b.         You must arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time in full make-up, full hair and in your tights.  If you have two classes scheduled in the same one hour time block please see the front desk for which dance will be first. 

c.           Please label ALL of you belongings with your students Name.

d.         Students must sign in and report to their assigned section on House Right to be seated with their class and teacher, unless they are onstage or changing costumes.  Parents will be seated separate in the middle and back center section in the auditorium.

e.          This will be the ONLY opportunity you will have to video or photograph your child’s dance.  The first 2 rows in the auditorium are reserved for the parents of that specific class.  This will be your only opportunity to record and photograph your child’s performance with your personal camera.  Cameras and camcorders are NOT permitted at the recital.  You may order a professionally recorded DVD of the recital from our videographer. Please see the front desk to order your DVD of the ENTIRE show! Pure entertainment for your dancer all summer long!!!

f.            Absolutely NO FOOD OR DRINK will be permitted in the auditorium. 

g.         No student should be wearing jewelry, nail polish or temporary tattoos unless specified by the instructor.  We assume no liability for lost or damaged items.

h.         We have provided you with plenty of notice.  Please do your best to arrange your schedule around your dress rehearsal time.  These rehearsals are very important and take priority over all other activities.  If you are involved in a sport please inform your coach of this conflict.

i.             Our photographer, Susann Gude, will be taking group pictures of each class before they go on stage.  Group pictures can be ordered at Dress Rehearsal.

1)         The Staller Center in located on the West side of the Main Stony Brook campus.

a.          FROM 27/495: Take exit 52 on 27 or 62 on 495 onto Nicolls Road North.  Continue heading north past 25 (Jericho Tpke) and 347(Nesconset Hwy).  After crossing Route 347 make a Left at the 4th traffic light onto Shirley Kenny Drive, The Stony Brook West Campus Entrance.  (You will pass the Stony Brook South Campus Entrance at the 3rd Light.)  Follow signs to the Visitor’s Parking Garage to the Left.

b.         Parking is free on Saturday, so please park in the garage and walk around the Fine Arts Loop to the Staller Center. Stony Brook charges a minimal parking fee on weekdays; including our Friday recital, so please plan accordingly.


a.          Please arrive 45 minutes prior to the start time listed for your recital. 

b.         ALL dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the performance.  We have our entire cast perform in the wonderful Stage Door tradition of the Finale Dance!  Students ages 2 ½ thru Adult will learn the words and dance in class for one final performance to end the show.  Don’t be worried… they will be in great hands with our backstage parent staff and always have a great time in the dressing room! Exceptions will be made on a per class basis.  You will be notified via email if your class is eligible for early pickup.  If you have a concern please come to the front desk so we can address it with you.

c.           Please have your dancer ready to go with their hair and make-up done and in costume for their first number when you send them backstage.  DO NOT send them backstage unprepared. 

d.         Send your dancer to the dressing room with a disposable water bottle with their name clearly written on the label and one bag of pretzels.  If your child cannot have pretzels please check with the front desk for additional options.

e.          NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOGRAPHY OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED.  If you do not abide by these rules, you may be removed from the theater. Please be courteous to your neighbors and entire SDSD Family. DVD’s can be ordered in advance or the day of the recital. 


g.         Please do not have any extra jewelry, temporary tattoos or nail polish on your dancer prior to sending them backstage.
